Half-blind abandoned dog gets rescued and finds the pawfect home in a doggo retirement community where he makes many friends and is loved by everyone: 'I saw something in him that said he wanted to fight on'

Sometimes, all that an abandoned dog needs to have hope again, to want to get better and live happily, is a little love from someone who actually cares about them.

Abandoning a dog is probably one of the worst things that you can do to them. Put aside the physical issues that they are bound to get when moving from living indoors to having to fight for every scrap of food outdoors. The emotional damage that an abandoned dog goes through might be even worse than the physical. From being loved and cared for to instantly losing all trust and faith in humans. It can devastate a dog. It can make any sickness that they have much worse. 

We think that's what happened to Rocky. He was abandoned, left to fend for himself, and his trust in humans was shattered. It didn't seem like he even wanted to live, to try to fight the physical pain that he was in. But then he met someone who cared. A person who truly loves dogs and went out of his way to help. It took time, patience, but eventually, Rocky realized that this is someone who cared for him, and something happened. A spark of life. Of hope. Suddenly, it seemed like Rocky wanted to live again, so he started fighting for it.

  • We never want to see an animal in pain. There is nothing worse than that. But hearing that so many people told this man to just give up on this poor dog… is unacceptable to us. This pupper wouldn't have only crossed the rainbow bridge, he would have done so sad and terrified. What he needed was a little hope. And the second that this dog got that hope, he was ready to come back to life.

  • We could not think of a better place for a pupper like him. Surrounded not only by humans who love dogs in general and him in particular but also so many other doggos to make friends with. He is going to spend his retirement in this place full of so much joy. And it is only because the man who rescued him did not give up on him. A little love and hope go a very long way in helping animals.
